Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial objects. It allows us to divine information and gain an understanding of individuals’ personalities, human affairs, and terrestrial events from the past, present and future. The practice can be traced back to at least 2nd millennium BCE. Many cultures have attached significance to astronomical events: such as Indian, Chinese, Mayan, Greek, Roman, Arab, and Western and Central European. More specifically there are also different branches of astrology, including Chinese, decumbiture, electoral, financial, Hellenistic, horary, locational, psychological, meteorological, and Hindu.
Western astrology and some Indian Vedic focuses more on an astrological chart or horoscope, utilizing the annual cycle of twelve stations of the zodiac that is based on the classical Greek zodiac. It also focuses on the path of the sun across the sky through constellations. Chinese astrology is slightly different, using a 12-year cycle, each named after one of the original 12 animals that are used to indicate different personalities and characteristics. There are varying astrological interpretations and traditions with other cultures. There are many ways one can learn astrology.
